The Elephant Training Centre at Konni is around 35 km away from Adoor. The centre has numerous wood cages that have been built for keeping elephants. These cages, also known as ‘Aanakoodu’ in the local language Malayalam, are strong enough to keep around 3 to 4 elephants at a time

Covered by an extensive forest area, Konni has the largest number of wild elephants in the state. These wild elephants, caught from the forest, were brought to the Elephant Cage and put in wooden cages. They are later trained for work. The government of India put an end to this type of crude old method of elephant catching and training, thus the cages were renedered useless. But, still it attracts lots of curious visitors.
